Sweet, soft, and delicious dinner rolls slathered with honey butter-The best dinner rolls ever! I have to say that I have quite an obsession with bread-bagles, rolls, sweet breads, hearty breads, you get the idea. I am pretty sure I could live off only bread for the rest of my life!

Ok, so maybe not, but I am always the first one to raid the bread basket at a restaurant and always the first to ask for more bread. I am not very proud of that, but hey it’s what I love! 🙂 I know one thing is for sure, I could never go on a low carb diet-especially with these amazing dinner rolls hanging around.

I have served these rolls every Thanksgiving and Christmas for the past several years and they are gobbled up very quickly. I have even sprinkled some cinnamon in the dough and on top of the butter to make them just a bit sweeter. Serve these at your next dinner party or on the holiday table and they will disappear as soon as you place them on the table-I promise you they are that good! 🙂

Instructions

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer combine the water, yeast and sugar; let rest 10 minutes until foamy.
  • Add milk, egg, butter, sugar, salt, and flour to the yeast mixture and mix with the dough hook on medium-low until thoroughly combined, about 10 minutes
  • Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl, cover and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  • Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Divide dough in half. Let rest ten minutes.
  • In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup butter and honey; set aside.
  • Roll each half into a 12 inch circle, spread butter mixture over both rounds. Cut each circle into 8 wedges. Roll wedges starting at wide end; roll gently but tightly. Place point side down on ungreased cookie sheet. Cover with clean kitchen towel and put in a warm place, let rise 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Bake in preheated oven for 12 to 14 minutes, until golden. Brush with melted butter and serve warm.
