Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits

Yesterday was my Yorkshire Terrier Hemingway’s second birthday. I can’t believe that he is already two years old! My husband purchased him for me as a first wedding anniversary gift. We named him Hemingway after the name of our wedding reception site in Grand Cayman. Below is a picture of the day we brought him home, June 14, 2009, he was only 8 weeks old and weighed only 3 pounds. I was so excited! :)

It has been so neat to watch his coat change from a black and brown to blonde, brown, and blue. He still is not completely changed into his adult coat. All of the black on his back will eventually turn into the  blueish gray color. You can already start to see the blue coming through on his hind legs.

He is such a sweet and lovable dog. I swear that he is one of the smartest dogs I have ever met. He knows how to manipulate Andrew and I to get whatever he wants. I mean come on, look at those eyes!

He has also managed to wiggle his way into my husbands heart. He never had a dog growing up and never wanted a “smelly critter” living among us. After years of begging and persuading he finally surprised me with this beautiful puppy. Funny how things change! It only took one cold night before Hemingway was snuggled in our bed with us and he hasn’t left since.

Now don’t let those cute eyes fool you, he is all terrier! He thinks that he is 150 pounds and can take on anything that comes his way. He is definitely a watch dog too. If there is a garbage truck or mail man outside he is sure to let you know!

Hemingway, loves peanut butter as much as I do and he LOVED these treats! He can smell a jar of peanut butter being opened from another room. So when I was pulling out the ingredients to make these biscuits, Hemingway was right there hoping for me to drop a morsel for him.

I know these won’t last long in my house and I will be making these again and again! :)

I also have two Yorkshire terriers, they are the sweetest most loving dogs. My second one looks very similar to Hemingway, and he also grew into the blue coat. He just celebrated his 5th birthday. These pictures make me want to get another!

Adorable! I made a cake for my dog back home for her birthday–how spoiled are our pets? Ha! I will definitely have to make these for her though, she loves peanut butter just as much as Hemingway, it seems!

What a cutie! Our dog is the opposite… he’s about 90 pounds and would be afraid of Hemingway. He loves playing with little dogs though!

Aww, I’ve always wanted a Yorkie but it’s so hard to have a dog in the city. Hemingway is just adorable!!! I can easily see how he can get whatever he wants, haha.

That’s so much fun that you had a destination wedding. Did that make it harder to plan? I’m having a hard enough time already and I don’t have to worry about going to another country!

Enjoy your sweet pup’s birthday :-)

That is the most precious little dog! It makes me want to get one so badly but I would feel terrible leaving it along in an apartment all day.
    Happy birthday little Hemingway!

I love making treats for my dog :) I never had a pet growing up, and was a little leery of adopting one earlier this year, but am so glad we did! He is such an amazing companion. Huntington is too cute! I’ll have to share these snacks with my pooch :)

What a precious dog! You are sure lucky to have such a loving husband who put your interest before his in getting this “smelly critter”. But then again, who could resist those puppy eyes?! Happy Birthday Hemmingway!

What a cutie pie!! Aww…we have a Jack Russell Terrier named Bailey. She’s an oldie now, about 7 years old, but she still has a young heart. Always running around and being lovable. Unfortunately, she’s pretty much allergic to life so I can’t give her any treats. :-p

Just made these for my greyhounds. They were delighted with the result. I used crunchy, which is what I have on hand and it only made a little difference in rolling out. Dogs asked for more, although they usually understand that one is all they get. Lots cheaper than the Trader Joe’s peanut butter biscuits they usually get. Thanks for posting.
