We continue onto Week 3 of College Football, which means another delicious Football bite! Here’s one easy and delicious appetizer that’s perfect for a Saturday afternoon full of football! Buffalo Chicken Dip. It really needs no introduction. Also known as “crack dip”, this stuff tastes just like buffalo chicken wings. And if your house is anything like mine on a football Saturday, football just isn’t football without some buffalo wings! :) This buffalo dip is super easy to make and can even be prepared beforehand if you are hosting a big tailgating party. Just assemble the dip and keep it in the fridge until ready to bake. You can even place it in a crock pot to keep it warm and gooey throughout the whole game!
This crowd pleasing creamy dip tastes just like buffalo chicken wings.
Yield: about 5 cups
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
1 ½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast halves, boiled and shredded (about 2 cups)
8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup ranch dressing
1/2 to 3/4 cup hot sauce
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large saucepan, combine the cream cheese, ranch dressing, hot sauce and cheddar cheese over low heat until the mixture is completely melted and smooth. Stir in shredded chicken.
Transfer mixture to a baking dish and bake until mixture is heated through, about 20 minutes. Garnish with blue cheese crumbles. Serve with celery sticks, tortilla chips or crackers.
To make in a slow cooker: combine ingredients as directed above. Place mixture into small slow cooker. Cover pot. Heat on HIGH setting for 1 1/2 hours until hot and bubbly or on LOW setting for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Stir before serving.
