Layered Cinnamon Roll Cake

Sink your teeth into a slice of Cinnamon Roll Cake! This cinnamon roll layer cake is moist, delicious and topped with cinnamon icing. It’s a must-try!



Cinnamon Roll Cake Ingredients

  • 2 Boxes of french vanilla cake mix
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 C canola oil
  • 2 C water
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 9inch round cake pans
  • 1 10 inch round cake board
  • 112.4 oz can of refrigerated rolls

Cinnamon Frosting

  • 3 C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
  • 6 C powder sugar
  • 1 TBSP ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 36 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • 1 large piping bag with star tip

Cinnamon Glaze Ingredients

  • 1/2 C unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 C light brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 squeeze bottle

Decoration ingredients

  • 1 package of store bought mini cinnamon rolls


Cake Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray 3 9inch baking pans with pam bakings spray
  2. Using a standing mixer, beat together the cake ingredients until combined
  3. Divide the batter between the 3 cake pans
  4. Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean
  5. Allow to cool completely
  6. Bake the cinnamon rolls according to the package
  7. Allow the cinnamon rolls to cool completely before cutting into 1/4

Frosting Directions

  1. Using a standing mixer, beat together all ingredients
  2. Beat frosting ingredients until smooth and fluffy
  3. Building the cake Directions
  4. Remove cakes from cake pans and cake off the domes from the cakes to make an even round cake layer
  5. Place one cake layer onto the cake board
  6. Scoop 1 C of frosting into the piping bag
  7. Scoop 1 C of the frosting onto the top of the cake layer and spread evenly
  8. Push in about half of the cut cinnamon rolls on top of the first layer of frosting
  9. Spread about 1/4 C of frosting on top of the cinnamon rolls
  10. Place a second layer of cake on top of the first layer of frosting
  11. Spread evenly another C of frosting
  12. Push in the remaining half of cut cinnamon rolls into the frosting
  13. spread another 1/4 C of frosting onto the cinnamon rolls
  14. Place the last cake layer on top
  15. Frost entire cake with remaining icing

Cinnamon roll glaze

  1. Mix all ingredients into a medium bowl and pour into a squeeze bottle

Decorating directions

  1. Drizzle the cinnamon roll glaze around the edge of the cake to create a drip effect
  2. Place mini cinnamon rolls around the edge of the bottom of the cake
  3. Pipe dollops of frosting around the top of the cake
  4. Place a mini cinnamon roll in between the frosting dollops
  5. Cut into slices and enjoy!
