There's nothing quite like the smell of fried fish. The crispy exterior, the flaky interior… it's no wonder that fish fry is a popular dish around the world. And while there are many different recipes for fish fry batter, this is my personal favorite.
Ingredients
1 ½cupsall-purpose flour
4tablespoonscornstarch
½teaspoonbaking soda
½teaspoonbaking powder
½teaspoonsalt
1 ½cupsginger ale
Heated for one minute in the microwave
Instructions
Grab a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, baking powder, and salt
Pour in the heated ginger ale and mix together until everything is fully combined
Choose your favorite meat and coat it in the batter
Preheat a deep frying pan with enough oil to fully cover the meat to 350 degrees F Check temperature before adding in meat or dropping a tiny bit of the batter to see if it immediately sizzles
Let meat/fish sit in the batter for a few minutes and make sure each piece is fully coated before adding to the fryer
Deep fry in canola oil till golden brown. Flip over after 3-5 minutes depending on your meat/fish choice for even crispiness
