Ingredients
4sticksButter, unsalted and melted
1 ½cAll-purpose flour
2tspVanilla
2tspBaking powder
1 ½cCake flour
½cSour cream , at room temperature
¼tspBaking soda
¼cLemon zest
2tspLemon extract
2 ½cGranulated sugar
8Eggs, Large
1tspSalt
For the lemon glaze:
2cPowdered sugar
5tbspLemon juice
For the lemon syrup:
⅓cGranulated sugar
⅓cLemon juice, Fresh
Instructions
Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
Mix together the flours, salt, baking powder and baking soda in a bowl.
Blend together the eggs, lemon extract and lemon zest in a separate bowl.
Mix the butter, sour cream, and vanilla into the bowl with the egg mixture, and blend until smooth.
Pour the dry ingredients in, and blend until well combined. Do not overmix.
Spread the mixture evenly into two well-greased loaf pans.
Bake for 20 minutes.
Lower the heat to 325 degrees, and bake for another 30 minutes.
Remove the loaf pans from the oven and let them cool for 10 minu
Add the syrup ingredients to a pot over medium heat, and stir for 3 minutes.
Turn the loaves out onto a wire rack to cool the rest of the way.
Poke holes in the top of the loaves with a toothpick, and pour the syrup over the top.
Blend together the ingredients for the glaze, and pour over the loaves.
