German Pork Chops and Sauerkraut recipe is a classic hearty and filling German dish that is perfect for winter that will warm you from the inside out.
Ingredients
4Large bone in center cut pork chops
1Tbsp.Olive oil
2lbs.Sauerkraut drained well
1Large red apple peeled and diced
1Onion chopped
⅔C.Brown sugar
1Tbsp.Caraway seeds
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Heat the oil in a skillet over medium high heat on the stove.
Season both sides of the pork chops with salt and pepper to taste, and saute in the heated skillet for a few minutes on each side until browned.
Place the browned pork chops in the bottom of a well-greased 9x13 baking dish.
Add the sauerkraut, apple, onion, brown sugar, and caraway seeds to a large mixing bowl, and stir to combine.
Spread the sauerkraut mixture over the pork chops.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
