Ingredients 

  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup medium-grind bulgur
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup flaxseed meal
  • 1/2 cup toasted almonds, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon light brown sugar
  • Honey, for serving

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat combine water, bulgar, salt, cinnamon, raisins, and cranberries; bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat, and simmer 20 to 25 minutes or until desired consistency, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat and divide between 4 bowls.
  • Top each serving with 1 tablespoon flaxseed meal, 1 teaspoon brown sugar and 1 tablespoon chopped almonds. Drizzle with honey to taste.
  • Serve warm.
