Delicious Custard Cake Recipe
When it comes to cake, this custard cake is a sure-fire winner. It is so moist and has a creamy texture. It has a sweet taste but isn’t too sweet like some cakes can be. Also, it is a light dessert so no one will feel bogged down when they eat. Perfect all year round, because this dessert is light, it is fantastic for the summer. Top it with fresh fruit to create a beautifully looking cake.
What Should I Top This Moist Cake Recipe With?
When I top this cake, I like to just add a little Cool Whip, powdered sugar and sometimes a little fruit. It creates the perfect moist cake and keeps the flavors of the cake standing out instead of being lost to a rich frosting.
Can I Add Different Flavors to My Cake?
This cake is so easy to add other flavors. You can add just about any flavor of extract that you like to give this cake a new flavor. Then you can also add in lemon zest or lemon juice. Mix fresh fruit into the batter. The options are endless. Make it different each time and everyone will think it is a new recipe.
How to Store Custard Cake
While normally I say to not store your cake in the refrigerator, that changes depending on what type of frosting it has. With this cake, since it is topped with Cool Whip and sometimes it has fresh fruit on top or inside the cake, I recommend storing this cake in the refrigerator. It will help the cake to last the longest while staying fresh.
Make sure the cake is covered well when it is stored. If it is not, the cake will get dried out faster and it will cause it to be unappetizing and stale. Use a cake cover or even plastic wrap to make sure this cake is the best it can be for several days.
