Why I love Super Easy Cabbage Soup?

  • Because it is easy. This recipe comes together in 30 mins and is a great weeknight meal
  • It is filling and hearty
  • It is delicious and you can tailor it to your own preferences

Why do you soak cabbage before cooking?

Cabbage is a rather aggressive vegetable in terms of flavor. If you are not soaking your cabbage before you cook it, you are more likely to get a pungent taste that is a bit like the overall smell. Soaking it helps to mellow out the flavor, makes the leaves cook faster, and helps to make the cabbage easier to work with overall.

How to serve Super Easy Cabbage Soup?

This is a great standalone dish that you can serve warm on a cold night. You can also serve it alongside other dishes and other veggies to make a truly delicious meal overall.

Cooking Tips:

  • Soak your cabbage ahead of time to mellow the flavor
  • Make sure you are fully wilting your cabbage before you start to add your liquid
  • Do not be afraid to add flavor

Variations:

The best way to switch up cabbage soup is by what you add to it. You can add tons of great spices and herbs to change up the flavor, but you can also add meats. If you want to make this soup more substantial, you can add ham to the soup to help give it more protein and make it a main course dish.

Ingredients:

  • Olive oil
  • Onion
  • Cloves garlic
  • Water
