Chocolate is one of my ultimate favorite desserts because it’s just comforting and decadent. When I buy into one of these homemade chocolate chip cookies, I feel relaxed, and my taste buds are sinking me.

I’ve given these cookies away to several people over the years when they’ve been under the weather or what I want to give a special gift to a new teacher from my kiddo. I’ve never had any complaints from them, and everybody always wants to know how I made them.

These Joanna Gaines chocolate chip cookies have an amazing texture. They are soft and chewy, and of course, they’re filled with lots of chocolate chips. So the next time you are in the mood for some chocolate, I highly recommend eating these cookies. They’re perfect for taking to gatherings.

So if you have family reunions coming up, community dinners, bake sales, or any other event when you want something that is unique and delicious, MAKE THESE COOKIES. You aren’t going to regret it. 🙂

What Type of Chocolate To Use

It’s important to use high-quality chocolate. If you use cheap chocolate, they aren’t going to end up with that robust chocolatey flavor. You can actually use any variety of chocolate chips you want as long as they are of good quality. Trust me; you will regret it if you don’t.

I typically use semi-sweet chocolate chips. They are the perfect flavor and go well with the cookie ingredients. You could swap the semi-sweet chocolate chips for chopped chocolate candy bars or even white chocolate.

If you make adjustments, they won’t be the same Joanna Gaines chocolate chip cookies, but they will still be great and hard to resist.

Do You Chill The Cookie Dough

With many homemade chocolate chip cookies, you have to refrigerate the dough for a while before baking them. However, these magnolia chocolate chip cookies don’t need to be refrigerated before baking them.

You can simply prepare the cookie dough batter and start baking it.

Can I Freeze Cookies

Yes, you can freeze these Joanna Gaines chocolate cookies. Bake them as directed, then let them cool on a wire rack. Once the chocolate chip cookies have cooled down all the way, then they can be frozen. I find the best method for freezing the cookies is to lay them out on a clean baking sheet, so they aren’t touching. Then place the pan in the freezer for 1-3 hours or until they are pretty frozen. Once they are frozen, you can remove the cookies from the pan and place them in a freezer bag or freezer container.

When you are ready to serve the cookies, take them out of the freezer and let them sit at room temperature until they are defrosted.

The cookies will last up to 3 months in the freezer.

How to Freeze Raw Cookie Dough For Making Cookies Later

Freezing cookie dough is a great way to save yourself sometime later. It’s nice to have homemade cookie dough ready to go whenever you need it too. Think of last-minute gifts, dinner guests, or chocolate cravings!

You’ll need to roll the cookie dough into dough balls. Then put the cookies on a baking sheet and freeze for a couple of hours. After the cookie dough balls are frozen, remove them from the pan and put them in a freezer bag. Be sure to label the bag! They will last in the freezer for 3 months.

You don’t need to let the dough thaw before baking them. Simply heat up the oven and bake for an additional 1 or 2 minutes until they are golden brown.

How to Store Cookies

Store the freshly baked cookies in a food storage container. You can keep them at room temperature or place them in the fridge. They will last around 3-4 days either way.
