Why I love Lemon 7-Up Cake?
I love Lemon 7-Up Cake because of its tangy flavor, which is perfect to balance out the sweetness of the sugar and icing. As a bonus, this recipe also doubles as a 7 up pound cake recipe. The cake will be thick enough to give you a rich, moist density, just like your favorite pound cakes!
What does 7UP do in cake?
Besides imparting the distinct and well-beloved lemon line flavor of your favorite soda, 7UP also acts as a leavening agent when you’re baking a cake. It’s similar to the function of baking soda or baking powder, but way, way tastier!
Why did my 7UP cake fall?
As we mentioned above, 7up is a leavening agent, aka, it makes your cake rise just like baking soda or baking powder would. If you use too much leavening agent (including 7up) you could run into a situation where your cake grows too fast in the oven, and then it falls over.
Can you substitute 7UP for water in cake mix?
Yes, you can absolutely substitute 7UP for water in cake mix. It will elevate the flavors of your cake without getting too wild!
