Variations to Recipe
In order to keep this recipe true to the taste of a Reeses cup, you’ll want to stick pretty close to the recommended ingredients. However that doesn’t mean there aren’t ways to add variety and make this recipe unique.
- Try a different chocolate – Using dark chocolate or even white chocolate is a fun way to change up this dessert. You can even use a mixture of different chocolate and make a neat swirl pattern on the shell.
- Add chopped nuts – Add some chopped peanuts, almonds, or pecans to the creamy peanut butter mixture for a nice crunch in every bite.
- Use a different nut butter – Whether its crunchy or creamy, almond butter or peanut butter, any type of nut butter can be used in this no bake dessert recipe.
Tips
- For a shiny chocolate shell with a nice snap to it try using tempered chocolate. Tempering the chocolate properly will also make sure the chocolate sets properly.
- You can temper chocolate in the microwave easily by following these steps:
- Place the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl. Melt on 50% power for 30 seconds at a time stirring in between.
- Repeat until the chocolate has fully melted and is smooth. This may take up to 5 minutes.
- Use a tart pan with a removable bottom for easy pie removal. To make removal easier sit the tart on a small bowl to support the bottom plate and carefully separate the sides of the tart shell. Once released the side should just fall away from the pie.
- Use a bit of cooking spray or butter to lightly grease the tart shell before applying the parchment paper. This will help the parchment stick in place while you form the pie.
- Let the pie sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes before slicing for nice clean slices.
