I may have even cookie dough when it wasn’t safe to do so, but I was tired of flirting with the dangers! Instead, I went on a mission to create a no bake cookie dough that I could safely eat without worries.

Is It Safe To Eat Raw Flour?

There is some evidence that eating raw flour can make you become ill. It’s best to sprinkle the flour on a baking sheet and heat it in the oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Or place it in the microwave long enough for it to get hot. Heating the flour kills any germs that it may have, and then it’s safe to eat.

What Is The Chocolate Topping On Cookie Dough Bars

The topping on these cookie dough bars is a combination of melted caramel chips and mini chocolate chips. They are the perfect way to top off the cookie bars. You can also sprinkle chocolate chips on top if you wanted as well.

Storing Leftovers

Leftovers need to be kept airtight. Otherwise, they will dry out and aren’t as tasty. Keep them in a container with a lid that fits well, and these cookie bars will last up to five days. You can store them in the fridge or at room temperature after they are set up. I prefer the no bake cookie bars to be cold, but you may like them better at room temperature.

Can You Freeze Bars

Absolutely! You can quickly freeze these cookie dough bars. Keep them in a food storage container that’s airtight, and they will last in the freezer for 2-3 months.

Thaw in the fridge or on the counter before serving and enjoy!

  • 2 c. Flour
  • 1 Stick of butter
  • ¾ c. Brown sugar (packed down)

  • ½ tsp. Salt
  • 14 oz. Sweetened condensed milk
  • 14 oz. Mini chocolate chips
  • 10 oz. Caramel flavored candy chips

How to Make Cookie Dough Bars

Once you make these cookie dough bars, you will be wanting to make them all the time. Because there is no hard steps or lots of work, they are great for potlucks and other times when you need a dessert quickly.

First Step: In a mixing bowl, combine 1 stick of butter with ¾ of a cup of brown sugar that has been packed down. You can hand mix if you like, but it is much easier to use a stand mixer. Beat together the sugar and butter until it is light and creamy.

Second Step: Add in 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.

Third Step: Sprinkle in ½ teaspoon of salt.

Fourth Step: Pour in 14 oz. of sweetened condensed milk.

Fifth Step: Mix in 2 cups of flour, and blend on high until all of the ingredients have combined well.

Sixth Step: Turn 10 ounces of mini chocolate chips into the batter by hand just until they are combined well.

Seventh Step: In a greased 9 x 9 pan, place the dough, and push down to form a nice even layer.

Eighth Step: Place the pan in the freezer for 45 minutes to an hour and then remove it.

Ninth Step: Once the dough has chilled a bit, you can make the icing. To do this, place a 10-ounce bag of caramel-flavored candy chips into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave the chips for one minute, and then remove and stir them. Continue to heat the chips in the microwave at 30-second intervals until they are melted completely.

Tenth Step: Add 4 ounces of mini chocolate chips to the icing mixture, and stir until melted. You can return them to the microwave for 30 seconds if needed to melt the remaining chocolate chips.

Eleventh Step: Let the icing mixture cool for a few minutes. Once it has cooled, pour it over the cookie dough, and smooth it out with a spatula. Place the pan back into the fridge to chill; you can serve as soon as the icing has hardened, or continue to chill until ready to serve.

Enjoy!
