What is peach Crumble?

Peach crumble is a simple summer dessert made from a layer of fresh peaches topped with a crunchy buttery topping. Similar to a crustless pie, the peaches become soft and jammy while the buttery topping crisps to a beautiful golden brown in the oven.

Unlike a cobbler, peach crumble has a topping made from flour butter and sugar, while cobbler tends to have a more biscuit-like topping. There is no better way to enjoy juicy summer peaches than this ebay peach crumble recipe.

  • Use the freshest in-season peaches you can find for the juiciest peach crumble. Peaches are generally in season May through October so head to your local farmers market and see what they have.
  • Make sure the peaches are nice and ripe before using them for this recipe. They should be soft when you squeeze them instead of hard and firm.
  • Butter the baking dish liberally to avoid the peaches from sticking to the bottom and sides.

Storage and Reheating

Leftover peach crumble needs to be stored in the fridge in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap.

Reheat the peach crumble in a 375°F oven until warmed through and the topping is crispy. Be careful not to overcook the topping or it may burn.

Easy Peach Crumble FAQs

Can I make this recipe into a gluten free dessert?

A gluten free version of peach crumble can be made by substituting the flour for your choice of gluten free flour, or gluten free rolled oats.

Do I need to peel the peaches for peach crumble?

That is totally up to you but peeling the peaches makes the bottom layer juicer and jammier. The peels can sometimes be a little tough.

Can I make peach crumble ahead of time?

Peach crumble can be made up to 3 days ahead of time. Just make sure you store it sealed in the fridge so it stays fresh. The topping will be less crunchy the longer it sits.

What to serve with peach crumble?

Can I make this with frozen or canned peaches?

Fresh peaches are the most flavourful and juiciest, but if all you have is frozen or drained canned peaches, they will work for this peach crumble recipe.

How to know when your crumble is done?

After about 40 minutes the topping should be a perfect golden brown. If it still appears a little pale keep baking it until the color turns darker and it starts bubbling around the edges.

Can I double the recipe?
