Ingredients:
½ C. Brown sugar
½ C. Granulated sugar plus extra for rolling the cookies in
½ C. Peanut butter
¼ C. Shortening
¼ C. Softened butter
1 ½ C. All-purpose flour
1 large egg
1 tsp. Baking powder
1 tsp. Baking soda
3 Dozen Hershey kisses
Ingredient Notes & Substitutions
Brown sugar: Swap the brown sugar called for in this recipe for Swerve brown sugar. This significantly reduces caloric intake and carbohydrates in traditional brown sugar. Best of all, it still tastes delicious, just like old-fashioned brown sugar! I promise, you’ll hardly notice the difference with Swerve!
Granulated sugar: You can also do the same with granulated sugar to make these a bit more low-carb and low-sugar. Granulated sugar alternatives include Swerve, stevia, and monk fruit!
Shortening: If you don’t have any shortening at home, you can swap it for butter or coconut oil. You’ll want the coconut oil to be a bit soft (not melted), or the butter to come to room temperature if you choose to go this route.
All-purpose flour: If you’re gluten intolerant, try replacing the AP, or all-purpose flour called for in this recipe with almond flour or a blend of almond and coconut flour.

Step 3. Roll the dough into small balls, and roll the balls of dough into a shallow plate or bowl of granulated sugar to coat. This will add an even more delicious taste to these already scrumptious cookies.

Step 4. Place the sugar-coated balls of dough onto a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes until they have flattened some and are cooked through.
Step 5. Remove from the oven. Immediately place a Hershey kiss into the center of each cookie.

Step 6. Let the cookies cool and then serve.

Tips for Success
Immediately push the Hershey kisses into the cookies when they’re fresh and hot out of the oven. This will ensure they are not sitting on top of the cookie, but become part of the cookie itself!
Storage & Reheating
You can always store these cookies for later or if you’re making them ahead of time. Store these cookies in airtight containers, such as Tupperware, for up to a week in your refrigerator. If you want to freeze them, you can do the same with a freezer-safe container for up to 2 to 3 months.
Allow the cookies to come to room temperature before eating them, unless you’re a fan of cold cookies (which I am)!
If you want to warm these cookies, you can do so in the oven at 250-300 degrees Fahrenheit for 4-6 minutes. However, you’ll want to keep an eye on them as to not melt the Hershey kisses while they’re warming up.
Serving Suggestions
I can’t get enough of these cookies! I highly recommend serving them with a tall, cold, glass of milk! You can also try making your own Hokkaido milk tea, which we’ve replicated on Sweet Pea’s Kitchen! If you want your milk to be extra cold to enjoy with cookies, learn how to freeze milk into cubes!
Notes
Rolling the cookie balls into sugar will provide an extra sweet taste that you won’t want to pass up! These cookies are the perfect addition to game days and holiday parties, year-round!
