There are a few guidelines to follow when making toffee. One of those is to ensure your toffee mixture reaches 275°F, or else it will turn out chewy rather than crunchy. The best way to gauge the temperature is to use a candy thermometer. If it doesn’t set, then you can always cook it for a bit more.

The toffee should come out a little sticky but also crunchy and sweet. You won’t be able to resist it.

Storage Instructions:
Keep it in a sealed container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 6 months. If you keep it in the freezer for longer, it’ll remain safe to eat, but the taste and texture may change. When you prepare it for freezing, wrap the toffee well in parchment paper, plastic wrap, or wax paper before placing it in a freezer bag to prevent it from absorbing odors. Whenever you take it out of the freezer, make sure you put it in the fridge to defrost so it retains its crisp texture.

Tips for Success
Overall, this simple melt in your mouth toffee meal, well, recipe, is relatively easy to make. You, however, will want to make sure you don’t turn up your burner too high or leave it on for too long. If you overcook it, it’ll have a burnt flavor, and you’ll need to start over again.
Wait for it to cool completely before you dig in. While it might be tempting to eat it right off the tray when it’s still hot, it won’t have a crunchy texture. And it’ll remain hot for a while, so you might wind up burning your mouth.
If you’re experimenting with different flavors or ingredients, only try it on a small portion of the toffee. That way, you don’t ruin the entire batch if you don’t like it.
Notes:
You could make a healthy melt in your mouth toffee version out of this recipe by using real maple syrup, honey, coconut sugar, or coconut oil.
