How Do Restaurants Get Chicken Wings So Crispy?

The secret ingredient at play here, which is not going to remain a secret anymore, is baking powder! It might not sound too appetizing, but that’s what your fav restaurants are using to get that extra crisp, crunchy texture. Cornstarch does wonders too.

What is the best cooking method for wings?

Marinate, steam, and bake! (If you’re marinating)

Steaming melts the fat, which adds to the crispiness of your wings. And, of course, no raw bites in the center!

Are Wings Better Fried Or Baked?

It depends on what you want from the wings. If you like crispy but not so tasteful skin, deep fry ’em. But if you want your crispy skin to ooze complex flavor, bake it. You’ll get caramelized skin with rendered fat.

How To Serve Caramelized Chicken Wings?

I love all things chicken. So, I’ve tried my hands on all the sides that I could. Here are a few that turned out to be crowd favs:

  • A big pile of crispy French fries or sweet potato fries on the side.
  • A refreshing cocktail to wash the wings down.
  • Some crunchy crudités like carrots, celery, and bell peppers with a cool ranch or blue cheese dip.
  • A big bowl of creamy mac and cheese or cheesy mashed potatoes to balance out the sweet and savory flavors.
  • A platter of crispy onion rings or fried pickles for some extra crunch.
  • A big tray of nachos topped with all your favorite fixings for a fun and festive party spread.
  • Some warm and fluffy dinner rolls or garlic bread to soak up all the delicious sauce.
