Roasted Banana & Pear Puree
Today’s recipe is one of Little Sweet Pea’s favorite-Roasted Banana and Pear Puree. It’s creamy, sweet, with delicious caramel notes. Roasting the bananas and pears intensifies the flavors, even more, making this baby puree so good that we eat it as a dessert all the time! 😉
We love to add a sprinkle of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice and go to town munching away on it. It’s creamy and smooth. If you are eating it, you can make it less pureed than if you are making it for a baby. I like it a little bit chunky, but for the baby, we always make it super smooth. Another spice that I like to add is a little dash of apple pie seasoning too.
YUM! Having foods that you and your little kids can enjoy saves you time in the kitchen cooking too.
What Nutrients Are In Bananas
Bananas are a powerhouse of nutrients, and they just happen to taste awesome. They are loaded with potassium, fiber, vitamin B6, vitamin C, copper, manganese, magnesium, and more. So, if you want a food that is nutritious, then give it a taste. Ultimately, bananas are good to help you have lovely skin, as well as giving you a burst of energy too. You can also use them to help with digestion too.
What Nutrients Are In Pears
Lots of vitamin C, potassium, copper, fiber, and vitamin K, can all be found in the pears. They are the perfect addition to include with the bananas. In addition to all the nutrients, pears are also really good for your gut and have been known to have anti-inflammatory properties too.
How Ripe Do The Bananas Need to Be
The bananas are sweeteners the riper they are. If you want to make the puree super sweet, then let the bananas ripe until they are very dark. Or you can simply ripen them until they are almost dark. You don’t’ want to use fresh, green bananas, or they won’t mix well and will be super clumpy and not as appealing to anyone.
Can You Freeze This Puree
Yep! Freezing the puree is a wonderful way to get it to last longer. We like to make up several batches and freeze them inside of an ice cube tray. Once they are frozen, you can pop them out of the ice cube tray and put them inside a freezer bag. The roasted banana & pear puree will last in the freezer for up to 3 months. When you are ready to serve it, place it in the fridge until it defrosts. You can also warm it in the microwave for a few seconds until it is the temperature you want.
How to Store This Banana Pear Puree
You will need to keep leftovers cold in the fridge. After they have cooled down, you can add the roasted banana & pear puree to a container that is airtight. The banana pear recipe will last in the fridge up to 5 days. It can be eaten cold, or you can warm it up in the microwave. Both ways are tasty.
Can I Double This Recipe
Of course! Doubling this roasted pear and the roasted banana recipe can easily be doubled. We typically will double or even triple it, so we have leftovers whenever we need them. Go ahead and follow the directions but use double the fruit. Then store it in the fridge or freezer.
Ingredients
Yep, there are seriously only two ingredients! You aren’t imagining it. 🙂 Once you taste how good this banana pear recipe is, you will think it has been loaded with lots of other ingredients.
- 2 bananas, halved crosswise and lengthwise
- 2 pears, cut into wedges
How to Make Banana and Pear Puree
Just five steps, and you will be able to whip up this roasted fruit puree. Now it’s time to learn how to roast fruit in the oven so you can try it with other fruits too. Once you know how to do it, you can swap the fruit easily.
First Step: Begin by preheating the oven to 400 degrees F. Then you’ll need to line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Second Step: Then, you’ll need to place the banana slices and pear pieces on the prepared baking sheet and roast for 25 minutes.
Third Step: Then remove the fruit from the oven and let cool slightly. After the pears are cool enough to handle, peel off the skins and discard.
Fourth Step: Then transfer the bananas and pears to a food processor fitted with a metal blade.
Fifth Step: Now, it’s time to puree the bananas and pears until smooth and creamy. Go ahead and begin adding water one tablespoon at a time, if necessary, until the desired consistency is reached. Serve warm.
