Why I love Baked BBQ Baby Back Ribs?
- They’re messy and fun to eat.
- When cooked right, they almost melt in your mouth.
- Baked BBQ baby back ribs are easy to cut for finger food.
- There is little to no work once the preparations are complete. The oven does most of the work.
How long does it take for baby back ribs to cook in the oven?
It depends on the rack size, but it usually takes two to four hours. The bigger the rack of ribs, the longer it takes.
Is it better to grill or oven bake ribs?
It is all in the preferences. Oven baked BBQ baby back ribs are better for those pressed for time or who do not feel up to cleaning the grill. Gas and charcoal grills add flavors to the meat with different flavored wood chips or mesquite charcoal. Those with the time will go for the smokey flavor of charcoal or smoked flavors.
Do you flip ribs when baking?
Typically, it is best not to flip the ribs when baking. The bone side should always face down as the meat bastes itself while cooking. However, the meat should be basted on high heat every 45 minutes, or it will dry out if not covered.
How to serve Baked BBQ Baby Back Ribs?
There are two favorite ways to serve ribs. The first is to cut them into a slab of four bones if they are oversized. The other way is to cut each along the bone, leaving it with meat on both sides. It makes the perfect finger food and is less of a mess when eating.
Cooking Tips:
- Always remove the membrane where the bones in the back are. This will help during the cooking process.
- It is best to cook the ribs wrapped in aluminum foil, but not tight. It should be in a tent shape, and remove the foil for a crispier crust about an hour or so before it is finished cooking.
- Maranading overnight is best for added flavor and leaves a tasty crust.
Variations:
BBQ baby back ribs are primarily served by themselves or with other small side dishes like beans or potato salad. Different flavors make up the variations, depending on how you season them or if you use a sauce. Some do not cook the ribs with sauce but use a dipping sauce.
