Nobody ever gets tired of brownies, but if you usually find yourself making the same brownie recipe time and time again, it might be worth changing things up for a whole new brownie experience!

The following brownies include peanut butter. Although this probably sounds like a strange ingredient to include, the flavor of peanut butter works beautifully to give brownies even more appeal, and it also does great things to the brownie texture!

The rest of the ingredients are exactly what you’d expect in a brownies recipe, except for the absence of any chocolate or cocoa powder. That’s because peanut butter doesn’t enhance the chocolate taste, but instead replaces it with something unique and nutty.

Since these contain vanilla rather than chocolate, this makes them more blondie-like than brownie-like. But one thing is certain — these peanut butter brownies are delicious! Try this quick chewy peanut butter brownies recipe and see for yourself!

Why You’ll Love the Recipe:

  • You only need 9 ingredients to make these delicious peanut butter brownies, and you probably have most of them in your pantry already, which makes these easy chewy peanut butter brownies for beginners.
  • This sweet treat is chewy, moist, and so unique! Instead of chocolate as the primary flavor, peanut butter takes center stage, for a distinctive flavor in every bite.
  • Since peanut butter has protein in it, you could think of this as a healthy chewy peanut butter brownies version.
  • Oh, and your kitchen is going to smell incredible while these are in the oven!

Ingredients:

  • Packed brown sugar — Pack the brown sugar down into the measuring cup to remove air pockets and get the right amount of sugar for the recipe.
  • Salt — Just a little bit!
  • Large eggs — For best results, let these eggs warm up to room temperature before including them in your batter.
  • Baking soda — Baking soda (not powder!) gives the simple chewy peanut butter brownies meal the right texture.
  • Vanilla extract — This is here to add a little warmth to the taste of the peanut butter.
  • Flour — Flour is a staple ingredient for baked goods like brownies, so it’s an important part of this quick chewy peanut butter brownies recipe.
  • Peanut butter — The star of the show! It may surprise you, but we don’t need a whole lot of this to have a big impact on the taste.
  • Granulated sugar — Two types of sugar come together to make these brownies as sweet as can be.
  • Butter — Let this butter sit out with the eggs and soften up before baking.

Instructions:

Step 1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2. Mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a mixing bowl.

Step 3. In a separate, larger mixing bowl, blend together the peanut butter and butter.

Step 4. Add the eggs, vanilla, brown sugar, and granulated sugar to the peanut butter bowl. Mix until smooth.

Step 5. Beat in the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, and spread into a well-greased 9×9 baking dish.

Step 6. Bake for 30-35 minutes.

Step 7. Allow to cool before slicing to serve. This recipe makes about 8 servings, depending on how you slice the peanut butter brownies.

Tip for Success:

Allow to cool completely to room temperature before you slice them. I know, I know, they smell so good that you just want to eat them as soon as you can! But trust me, these family friendly chewy peanut butter brownies have the best texture if you allow them to cool. This makes them crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside, and perfectly sweet.

Storage Instructions:

Cover leftovers and keep them in an airtight container. These peanut butter brownies will stay fresh for 3 days at room temperature or for up to a week if refrigerated.

You can also freeze them in individual portions for up to 3 months, wrapped in plastic wrap or freezer paper, then thaw them overnight in the refrigerator. They can keep for longer than that in the freezer, but the longer you keep them, the more the flavor will deteriorate. With how tasty these chewy peanut butter brownies are, though, I’m sure they’ll be long gone before you have to worry about that.

Serving Suggestions:

Peanut butter brownies are always delicious, whether you serve them just as they are or pair them with coffee, a cold drink, or anything else. As for serving suggestions, you can’t go wrong with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a squirt of whipped cream on the side. Or maybe both? Treat yourself!

Can You Make Them Ahead?

You can make these in advance if you like. Just keep them in the fridge until serving time, or in the freezer if you need to keep them for a long time.

What Variations Can I Make For Chewy Peanut Butter Brownies?

Feel free to use smooth or crunchy peanut butter in these brownies, since either one will work well. Crunchy peanut butter also adds a crunchy texture to the brownies. You can add some cocoa powder if you miss the chocolate taste, or add chocolate chunks to the batter for a chocolate crunch. You could also swap the vanilla for another flavor, perhaps hazelnut or almond extract instead.

Peanut butter brownies are so easy to make and they’re a perfect treat for fans of peanut butter. Making these makes me wonder what other brownies you could make, using different flavors in the place of chocolate… Either way, I hope you enjoy these, and let me know about your own homemade chewy peanut butter brownies ideas!
