The rest are the ingredients are exactly what you’d expect in a brownies recipe with the exception of the chocolate or cocoa powder. That’s because peanut butter doesn’t enhance the chocolate taste but replaces it with something unique and nutty.

Since these contain vanilla rather than chocolate, this makes them more blondie-like than brownie-like. But one thing is certain – these peanut butter brownies are delicious!

Can You Make Them Ahead?

You can make these in advance if you like. Just keep them in the fridge until serving time.

Storage Instructions:

Cover leftovers and keep them in an airtight container. These peanut butter brownies will stay fresh for 3 days at room temperature or for up to a week if refrigerated. You can also freeze them in individual portions for up to 3 months, then thaw them overnight in the refrigerator. They will keep for longer than that in the freezer but the longer you keep them the more the flavor will deteriorate.

Variations and Substitutions:

Feel free to use smooth or crunchy peanut butter in these brownies, since either one will work well. Crunchy peanut butter also adds a crunchy texture to the brownies. You can add some cocoa powder if you miss the chocolate taste or swap the vanilla for another flavor, perhaps hazelnut or almond extract instead.
