This Chicken and Dressing Casserole is one of the best easy casserole recipes. With just a few ingredients, this good casserole is ready in under 45 minutes. Perfect for busy weeknights or even weekend brunch!

Chicken and Dressing Casserole

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Cook Time: 45 minutes | Servings: 8

Ingredients:

4 C. Cornbread crumbled

4 C. Chicken shredded

1 C. Onion chopped

⅓ C. Celery chopped

2 Tbsp. Butter unsalted

1 Can cream of onion soup

1 Tsp. Poultry seasoning

½ tsp. Dried sage

1 ½ C. Chicken broth

Salt and pepper to taste

For the gravy:

¼ C. Butter unsalted

¼ C. All-purpose flour

2 C. Chicken broth

¼ C. Heavy whipping cream

Salt and pepper to taste

How to make Chicken and Dressing Casserole:

Step 1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Step 2. Add the butter, onions, and celery to a skillet and saute until the vegetables have begun to soften.

Step 3. Place the cornbread, chicken, vegetable mixture, poultry seasoning, sage, soup, and chicken broth into a large mixing bowl along with salt and pepper to taste. Stir to combine.

Step 4. Spread the mixture into a well-greased 9×13 baking dish and bake for 45 minutes.

Step 5. Add the flour and ¼ cup butter to a skillet over medium heat and stir to combine. Saute for 1-2 minutes stirring often.

Step 6. Whisk in the chicken broth and add salt and pepper to taste. Continue to saute until the mixture has thickened to a gravy consistency.

Step 7. Stir in the heavy whipping cream.

Step 8. Pour the gravy over the casserole and serve.
