Funnel Cakes are known mainly due to the County Fairs or State Fairs. They are a delicious treat that can be topped in a number of ways. These tasty bites of fried dough are much easier to make and a whole lot less messy than making regular large funnel cakes.

With just a few ingredients, you have the perfect treat or snack for the weekends without driving all over to find a fair happening.

Different toppings include Classic Powdered Sugar, or some sweet dipping sauces like caramel, chocolate, or a fruit topping. These handy Funnel Cake bites are perfect for kids of all ages, and as adults, we can happily lose track of how many we eat.

Why is this the perfect recipe?

This recipe is a simple one, with no fancy ingredients. That makes it easy to make and of course delicious! The bite-sized pieces are also handier for hands of all sizes instead of the larger Funnel Cakes.

Are Funnel Cake Bites the same as Fried Dough?

Not at all! Fried dough is usually bread dough that is made with yeast. Funnel Cake Bites use a batter quite similar to pancake batter.

Ingredients:

  • Milk
  • Vanilla extract
  • All-purpose flour
  • Egg
  • Baking soda
  • Butter
  • Granulated sugar
  • Powdered sugar for garnish
  • Oil for frying

How to make Funnel Cake Bites:

Step 1. Beat together the milk, egg, vanilla, and butter in a mixing bowl.

Adding the milk.

Adding the butter.

Adding the vanilla.

Step 2. Whisk in the baking soda and sugar.

Adding the soda.

Adding the sugar.

Step 3. Slowly beat in the flour a little at a time until smooth and creamy.

Step 4. Add the mixture to a piping bag or ziploc bag with a hole cut into one corner.

Step 5. Heat the oil on the stove over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350-375 degrees.

Step 6. Drizzle small circles of the batter into the hot oil, and turn to cook both sides until golden brown. Remove, and place on a paper towel-lined rack to drain.

Step 7. Repeat this process until all of the batter has been used.

Step 8. Garnish the funnel cake bites with powdered sugar and serve.

Can I store the Funnel Cake Bites?

You can store them in an airtight container. However, Funnel Cake Bites are best when eaten fresh, right after being made. If it is necessary to store the Funnel Cake Bites, they can be stored in the refrigerator for 2 days.

Can I freeze Funnel Cake Bites?

They can be frozen after they are made. You do need to be sure they are cooled to room temperature first. Then place them in an airtight container. Freeze for up to 1 month.

How would I reheat the Funnel Cake Bites?

These can be placed on a baking tray in a preheated 350* oven. Cover the tray with foil and reheat for 5 minutes or until heated through. You could also quickly deep fry for a minute or two to reheat these Funnel Cake Bites.
