Instant Pot Orange Sherbert Cake
If you grew up spending your summers eating orange push pops on a hot day, then you had a childhood like mine. I always remember spending summers outside playing with friends and having an orange push pop for an afternoon snack. It was always so delicious and fun to eat. I have pretty much always been a fan of orange sherbert.
And if you haven’t guessed it already, I am also a fan of CAKE!! I am so excited to share this Instant Pot orange cake with you. I think you are going to love how sweet it is and how gorgeous it looks as well. If you don’t have a lot of experience decorating cakes, don’t worry! This orange sherbert cake is SO easy to decorate, and the pressure cooker does most of the work.
Where To Find Orange Cake
I am lucky enough that we have a large grocery store that carries an orange cake mix. Check your local grocery stores first to see if they carry it. If not, you may need to order it online. You can find them all over the internet, so that shouldn’t be a problem.
What Is The Best Frosting For This Orange Cake
I prefer to use homemade orange buttercream because it is absolutely delicious. It’s sweet, easy to make, and has just the perfect amount of orange extract in every bite. If you don’t want to make your own homemade buttercream, you could buy frosting instead. You can pretty much use any vanilla or fruit flavor frosting. You could even add in a little bit of orange extract to the commercially prepared frosting.
Topping Ideas for Orange Sherbert Cake
I like to use sprinkles, cherries, and waffle cones. However, you could top the orange sherbert cake with other toppings as well. Strawberry slices, orange slices, brightly colored candies, or anything else you think would be fun is a great idea. So, try out some different toppings to see what you enjoy the most.
Do You Need To Refrigerate This Sherbert Cake
Yes, it would be best if you always refrigerated this orange cake recipe when you aren’t serving it. The frosting has heavy cream and butter, so they need to stay chilled. You can allow the cake to sit out for up to two hours at a time. The rest of the time, the cake should be tightly covered and refrigerated. The instant pot orange cake will last in the fridge for 4-5 days.
Can You Freeze Leftover Cake
Yes, you can freeze this orange sherbert cake. First, wrap it up then put it inside of a large freezer-safe container. It will last in the freezer for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge or set on the counter for a little bit until it’s defrosted before eating.
