Why do I love Pickle Fried Chicken?
- The crispy outside and juicy inside of the pickle-brined fried chicken and its slight picky tang set this fried chicken apart.
- You can make pickle-brined fried chicken from legs, thighs, breasts, or wings.
- Chicken breasts can be cut into strips and made into chicken fingers, also, and it is also a great recipe to have at your fingertips.
Why do you add pickle juice to fried chicken?
Pickle juice tenderizes chicken without chemicals and imparts a tangy, briny note of flavor. Chicken marinated in pickle juice is more succulent than other cooking methods. And the tang of pickle juice along with the buttermilk gives it an excellent flavor.
How long can you leave raw chicken in pickle juice?
When marinating chicken in pickle juice, it needs to be covered with brine for a minimum of two hours. However, DO NOT leave it in the pickle juice for over 24 hours because the meat will be a bit mushy once you cook it. This doesn’t mean that it is unsafe to eat, but the pickled chicken loses some of its quality.
What liquid is used to pickle food?
White vinegar is used for the brine made for pickling food. The brining solution is a mixture of white vinegar, water, salt, and sugar. However, you can use the leftover brine from your dill pickles, but remember; it has salt in it, so take care of how you use salt to flavor the pickled chicken breading.
How to serve Pickle Fried Chicken?
Pickle fried chicken is served hot with sides like French fries, potato salad, and veg or salad. Pickle-brined fried chicken fingers can be served as a meal or as a snack with dipping sauce.
Tips:
- When dredging your chicken, get the piece you are coating uniformly wet, then dust it with the flour you have prepared.
- If you drop the chicken in buttermilk, don’t leave it there very long, or it will turn dark and look very unappealing.
Variations:
The easiest way to vary this pickled fried chicken is to add salt, pepper, smoky paprika, or a warmer spice, to give it a little heat. Just be careful about adding too many spices, or they will overpower the subtle flavor of the pickle-brined fried chicken.
