The biggest key to keeping schnitzels crispy is to use plenty of hot oil when you are cooking the meat. Don’t add the chicken to the oil until it is hot.

How is chicken schnitzel different from fried chicken?

When you make chicken schnitzel you have to pound the chicken flat before you prepare it. With fried chicken, you do not do this. Also, fried chicken is coated in flour, while schnitzel is coated in bread crumbs.

  • Cut the chicken breasts into smaller bites to make chicken nuggets or chicken strips.
  • If you have really picky kids and you need a very mildly flavored dish, you can omit the Dijon mustard.
  • For an Italian twist, leave out the Dijon mustard and use Italian-seasoned bread crumbs.

Step 1. In a medium bowl, add the eggs, Dijon mustard, honey, soy sauce, and garlic.
