Ingredient Notes & Substitutions
Try to replace the vanilla pudding with a butterscotch variety if you’re looking a very unique flavor profile.
Change up the crust. Consider using a graham cracker crust if it’s a better flavor profile for you (if there’s such a thing as having too much chocolate!)
Use a dark chocolate instant pudding mix for a richer, more decadent flavor profile.
You can make your own cookie pie crush if you’re looking for something different. Crush some Oreos, for example.

Tips for Success
This is one of the best peanut butter cup pie ideas, but the trick is waiting. Don’t try to rush it. It needs to set (and that includes letting the mixture thicken before you start mixing it). Then, give it the four hours in the fridge to set up before you actually try to slice into it. That helps to create the right texture and mouth feel for this pie.
Storage and Reheating
How to Store These Pies?
These pies are best enjoyed fresh. But if it’s too much for you to finish in one sitting, store them in the fridge for three days max. You can also freeze them for a month. But that’s about it. Don’t try to hold onto them for longer than that.
Use an airtight box or wrap them in a cling wrap, and they’ll stay fresh as new.
Don’t reheat this recipe. This is one of the easiest homemade peanut butter cup pie recipes that doesn’t require being served warm (that wouldn’t taste ideal!)
Serving Suggestions
What Can I Serve With It?
I love to top my PB cup pie with some freshly whipped cream. It adds a slight sweetness and complements both the chocolate and peanut butter flavors. You can also try to balance the richness with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

FAQs
Is this a good quick peanut butter cup pie for parties?
It definitely is a great choice for a gathering. You can make more than one to share. Or, you can take this simple peanut butter cup pie dessert and recreate it into muffin or cupcake wraps. That’s going to give you individual servings.
Can I use off brand ingredients?
When baking peanut butter cup pie at home, you can choose any ingredients that you like. You’ll find this to be one of the easiest ways to keep costs down.
Can I Use Any Other Crust?
Oh, yes! I’ve used chocolate because, well, I am a chocoholic. But you can always try the classic Graham cracker crust. Or, for a super special twist, Oreo would be fab too.
What Other Fillings Can I Try?
I wouldn’t change a darn thing about this filling here. It has all the flavors that’ll balance the chocolaty crust. But if you want to dabble a bit more and make it super creamy, some extra cream cheese never hurts. Or maybe you can try a different jam or Nutella. Yum! It’s a winner every time.
Notes
When it comes to a family favorite peanut butter cup pie recipe, this is easily one of the best options because of how rich and easy it is to make. Make it your own. For example, you can get creative with the topping to add cookie crumbles to it.
A word of caution to keep in mind. This simple peanut butter cup pie dessert really is full of flavor but it’s rich. That means, you can and maybe should cut the pieces into smaller sections. Smaller portions are still going to be rich and filling.
