What is this Coconut Custard Pie made of?

This baked Coconut Custard pie is made with a homemade vanilla custard, a flaky, buttery crust, toasted coconut, milk and sugar.

Why is my Coconut Custard Pie watery?

Most often a watery custard filling means that the custard has not been cooked long enough. The custard does firm up more once it cools.

How do you keep your Coconut Custard Pie from becoming watery?

Custard firms as it cools. It is best to leave the Coconut Custard Pie in the refrigerator to chill overnight.

How do you know when a Coconut Custard Pie is done?

When you can jiggle the side of the pan and the center wiggles only slightly, the pie is done.

How do you thicken a Coconut Cream Pie filling?

If the pie filling does not thicken when it is brought to a boil, you can use equal parts of cornstarch and water to make a slurry. Stir this in with the filling as you bring it to a boil, the filling will then thicken.

Should I refrigerate my Coconut Custard Pie?

Yes, the Coconut Custard Pie should be refrigerated until you are serving it. The filling stays thicker when it is chilled, making it easier to slice. As a dairy-based product, it is always recommended to refrigerate.

How long does coconut custard last in the refrigerator?

A freshly baked Coconut Custard Pie can last in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
