Are fritter breads made from dough or batter?
Fritter breads are made from batter. They do not have to rest or be kneaded and are very easy to make although they do back for a while, so you do have to plan for that time when planning to serve.
How to serve Apple Spice Fritter Bread?
Apple Spice Fritter Bread could be served as a breakfast or brunch side or as a snack anytime of the day. It would be delicious with your favorite warm beverage or sipping a cup of hot cider while watching the sunrise or sunset.
Tips:
- To ensure that your Fritter Bread is cooked evenly, test for doneness about 10 minutes before it’s done cooking by using a toothpick or butter knife – if it comes out clean, your bread is done!
- Make sure to cool the Fritter Bread for at least 10-15 minutes before serving.
- If desired, you can add a streusel topping made of ½ cup flour, ¼ cup brown sugar, and 2 tablespoons melted butter. Sprinkle it over the top of your Fritter Bread before baking in the oven.
- For added flavor, you can mix in 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg and/or 1 teaspoon of ground ginger to your batter.
- Give the Fritter Bread an extra boost of sweetness by drizzling a powdered sugar glaze over the cooled bread!
Variations:
The apples could be substituted for peaches or pineapples, possibly blueberries or blackberries but honestly, this recipe is so delicious, why change it!
