Why I love Cauliflower and Broccoli Casserole?

  • If you have fussy eaters that don’t love veggies, this dish might change their minds.
  • This easy broccoli and cauliflower casserole recipe is a great addition to your dinner rotation because it’s on the healthier side of yummy!

What cooks longer broccoli or cauliflower?

While both are cruciferous vegetables, cauliflower is more dense than broccoli. So, it actually takes cauliflower longer to cook than broccoli.

Why we should not overcook cauliflower?

Once the cauliflower is tender, then it shouldn’t be cooked any longer. Cauliflower has a tendency to fall apart easily when it’s overcooked and the flavor can actually change — for the worse.

How to serve Cauliflower and Broccoli Casserole?

One of the loveliest things about this casserole is that almost everything is already in it. However, if you want to add some freshly baked bread or roasted potatoes, that would be a nice complement to the meal.

Cooking Tips:

  • Be sure to pre-steam the broccoli and cauliflower before adding them to the casserole dish so that the vegetables will cook properly.
  • Mix your butter, cheese, and soup before you add them to the dish. You want those veggies on the bottom to be tender. The cheesy soup sauce will work its magic during the baking process.
  • While it may be tempting to cover the casserole before it goes into the oven, don’t do it. Leaving it uncovered will actually produce the effect you want in this casserole. The vegetables will be perfect and the cheese sauce will have a great consistency.
