Do I Have to Use Old Bay Seasoning?

Do you love Old Bay Seasoning? Do you put it on everything? If you’re like me, then the answer is probably yes. But what if I told you that you don’t necessarily need to use Old Bay when making crab-stuffed cheddar bay biscuits?

Don’t get me wrong, Old Bay adds a nice flavor to the biscuits. But if you’re not a fan of the seasoning or if you don’t have any on hand, there are other seasonings that can be used in its place.

Some good options include:

  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Paprika
  • Black pepper

So, next time you’re craving crab-stuffed cheddar bay biscuits but don’t have any Old Bay, don’t fret! Just use one of the above seasonings and you’ll still have a delicious biscuit.

How Long Do Cheddar Bay Biscuits Keep Well?

Cheddar Bay biscuits are a quick and easy side dish that can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for up to four days. If you’re planning on serving them for a party or potluck, you can make them the day before and reheat them in a 350-degree oven for 10-15 minutes before serving. For the best results, use fresh crab meat and grated cheddar cheese. Serve with lemon butter for an extra special treat!

Here are a few tips for making the perfect Crab Stuffed Cheddar Bay Biscuits:

  • Use fresh crabmeat for the stuffing – it will make all the difference in taste.
  • Be sure to drain the crabmeat well before adding it to the biscuit dough, otherwise, your biscuits will be too moist.
  • If you can’t find cheddar bay biscuit mix, you can use regular biscuit mix and add in some shredded cheddar cheese and Old Bay seasoning to taste.
  • These biscuits are best served fresh out of the oven, but they can be reheated in a 350-degree oven if necessary.
