Ingredients:

  • Refrigerated Cinnamon Rolls
  • Eggs
  • Heavy Whipping Cream
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Maple Syrup
  • Pecans

Ingredient Notes & Substitutions

Pecans: If you are not a fan of pecans, you can eliminate or substitute another type of nut. I know a family that adds crumbled bacon and swears by it!

Maple syrup: If you’re watching your sugar, try a sugar-free version of maple syrup. You can also seek out an allulose-based maple syrup for a zero glycemic index alternative.

Vanilla extract: If you don’t have traditional vanilla extract on hand, try imitation vanilla extract. It’s much more budget-friendly and widely available.

Heavy whipping cream: While this recipe calls for heavy whipping cream to create a lush, thicker, creamy topping, you can swap it for soy milks, almond milk, or even traditional milk. Keep in mind that alternative milks, including reduced-fat and/or skim milk, will likely cause your mixture to be a bit thinner than with traditional heavy whipping cream. Swapping the heavy whipping cream is ideal if you’re searching for a healthy crockpot cinnamon roll casserole version.

How to Make It

Step 1. Cut the cinnamon rolls into four pieces each. Layer them in the crockpot individually, apart from one another.

Step 2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy whipping cream, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and maple syrup. Mixing wet ingredients together separately will allow the mixture to combine properly before applying the mix to the cinnamon rolls.

Add the heavy cream.

Add the eggs.

Add the cinnamon.

Add the nutmeg.

Add the vanilla.

Add the maple syrup.

Step 3. Pour the wet mixture into the crockpot. Cover as much of the cinnamon rolls as possible so the mixture is spread out evenly.

Step 4. Sprinkle your preferred nuts on top of the mixture.

Step 5. Pour one of the icing packets over the mixture. Do this carefully so you can distribute the icing over each of the cinnamon rolls!

Step 6. Cook on low for 3 hours. If you’re in a rush, you can attempt to cook this on high for 1 to 2 hours. However, it’s best to cook these rolls on low to prevent them from burning or sticking to the bottom of your crockpot.

Step 7. Drizzle the remaining icing packet over the casserole before you serve this quick crockpot cinnamon roll casserole recipe.

Tips for Success

Omit the pecans or chopped nuts if you have picky eaters or children in the home to keep this a family friendly crockpot cinnamon roll casserole. You can also add pecans or chopped nuts to half of the casserole or as needed once the cinnamon rolls are done cooking.

Storage & Reheating

How should this dish be stored?

You can place it into an airtight container once it has cooled to room temperature. Store it in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days.

How should I reheat this crockpot cinnamon roll casserole?

You can place reheated leftovers in a preheated 350* oven and reheat it for 8 to 12 minutes, or until heated through. You can also use the microwave to reheat to the desired temperature, which will likely require 1 to 2 minutes, depending on your microwave’s power settings.

Can I freeze the crockpot cinnamon roll casserole?

You could, but due to the eggs in the recipe, I do not recommend freezing. You may end up with some texture changes in the casserole.

Serving Suggestions

This casserole is supremely rich and delicious on its own. However, feel free to serve it alongside a glass of cold milk! You can also make specialty Hokkaido milk tea! If you prefer a cold, tasty treat as a side, consider our rum raisin ice cream or try this Wendy’s copycat frosty ice cream for a chocolate treat!

Notes

Cooking this casserole on low is highly recommended to prevent burning or sticking. If you plan to cook this on high, it may be advisable to do so while lining your crockpot with a sheet of parchment paper before setting your rolls inside.
