Why I Love Honey Sriracha Meatballs

  • These meatballs are both spicy and sweet, which makes them an irresistible addition to many types of meals.
  • If you’re tired of the same old meatball, these add a little something extra to a classic dish.
  • Turkey is ideal for many people looking to make healthier dietary choices or who want to lessen the amount of red meat they consume.

How Do You Keep Turkey Meatballs from Falling Apart?

A major worry with turkey meatballs is that they will fall apart and not stay together as well as beef meatballs. While it may seem gross to do, mixing the meat with your hands helps activate the protein in the meat, which makes it stick together better. Using gloves can help you maintain sanitary practices. Additionally, if you have slightly more meat, you may have to add some additional breadcrumbs to the mixture.

Why Are My Turkey Meatballs Rubbery?

When you overmix the mixture, your meatballs can become rubbery. Thus, you’ll want to mix gently and not overwork your meat. When shaping your meatballs, you’ll want to pack them enough to stay together but be careful not to pack them too much.

Is it Better to Fry or Bake Meatballs?

Cooks swear by both methods. I like to brown the meat in oil while baking the meatballs in the oven to cook them through. I find this method gives them a nice brown while not using too much oil in the process.

How to Serve Turkey Sriracha Meatballs

You can serve these meatballs in so many ways. I love to serve them with rice or noodles. You can also use them in place of your regular meatballs with pasta. Wherever you would normally use a meatball, these will work great.

Variations

  • Swap the ground turkey for ground beef if you want a more traditional meatball with the same flavor.
  • You can also add more or less sriracha based on your heat tolerance level. Whatever your tastes, you can make these meatballs work for you.
  • Turn these meatballs into turkey burgers by forming patty shapes.
