Instant Pot Spaghetti Recipe

You may be asking why I would want to make spaghetti in an Instant Pot.  Sure, it sounds like pressure cooking pasta just wouldn’t leave a good result.  That is just a misconception.  Pasta can be cooked perfectly in an Instant Pot, and this recipe is definitely one of my favorites.

This is so good served with my cheesy quick biscuit recipe!

Can I Use Homemade Pasta Sauce?

Of course, you can use a homemade sauce if you prefer.  In fact, many people love using their Instant Pot to prepare large batches of pasta sauce.  If you have some on hand, or in your freezer, this is a great recipe to add that extra sauce.

Just remember to measure the sauce to the same amount listed in the ingredients.  You don’t want to add too little or too much and have soggy or underdone pasta.

Can I Add Extra Vegetables to the Sauce?

Pasta is one of my favorite meals to add extra vegetables.  This Instant Pot spaghetti is a great place to sneak in extra vegetables that your kids will never notice.

I love mixing in shredded carrots, zucchini, or squash in my pasta.  Another great option is the classic addition of diced tomatoes, diced bell pepper, or diced onions.

Ingredients

  • Ground beef

How to Make Instant Pot Spaghetti

Set the Instant Pot to saute, and saute the ground beef until completely browned, and then drain thoroughly.

Add in the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and water, stirring to combine.

Break the spaghetti noodles in half, and layer them a little at a time on top of the meat mixture in the Instant Pot, layering the noodles in slightly different directions each time. This will help to keep the noodles from sticking together.

Pour marinara sauce on top of the noodles and meat, but do not stir.

Place the lid on the Instant Pot, and make sure that the release valve is pointing to the sealing position.

Set the Instant Pot to manual for 7 minutes if using white spaghetti, and for 5 minutes if using whole wheat pasta.

Once the spaghetti is done cooking, do a quick release right away by pushing the release valve over to the venting position. When the pressure is released, open the lid and stir the spaghetti well to combine everything together nicely.

Top with parmesan cheese for garnish if desired, and serve.

Enjoy!
