Why I love Lazy Day Oatmeal Cake?
- It contains all the ingredients a cake should have, like coconut, oatmeal, and more.
- The cake is easy to put together and bake.
- It is a great item to serve house guests and family members.
How can I make my cakes light and fluffy?
Using buttermilk instead of any liquid the ingredients call for is the secret. Mixing everything at room temperature is also essential because the chemical balance is thrown off when using cold ingredients with items already at room temperature. Lastly, make the sugar and butter creamy by stirring every bit of it continuously.
Does oat flour work in this cake?
It is best to use all-purpose flour when making any cake.
How to serve Lazy Day Oatmeal Cake?
The cake is the dessert part of the meal and should be served after the entree and side dishes are complete. It is the baker’s preference if you are baking a square or circle cake. If you bake a rectangular or square cake, cut and serve it in square pieces. When the cake is round, cut it into triangular slices like a pizza and serve.
Cooking Tips:
- Do not alter the ingredients. Altering can lead to issues when baking or the flavor of the dessert.
- Watch the cake closely while it is broiling. It can burn quickly.
Variations:
For this recipe, there are not many variations. You have the option to leave off the coconut or the walnuts.

How to store Lazy Day Oatmeal Cake?
The best way to store any cake is on a tray with a cover. However, if none is available, you may cover the cake with aluminum foil or plastic wrap. If you do this, use toothpicks and place them on the cake to keep the foil or wrap from sticking to the toppings.
How to reheat Lazy Day Oatmeal Cake?
Most people do not reheat their cake, but putting it in the microwave for a few seconds will get it done if needed. Try 20 seconds at a time because you do not want to melt the toppings, and check it as you go.
How much does Lazy Day Oatmeal Cake last on the fridge?
Any cake will last three to four days in the fridge. After the fourth day, it may be too dry to eat. Remember, the longer it goes, the more it will dry out, especially since it is more challenging to cover a cake and keep the air from getting to it.
Can I make ahead Lazy Day Oatmeal Cake?
Yes. All the ingredients can be put together a day in advance, but try not to do it longer than that because the ingredients will dry out. Once they dry out, you will have to start all over again. If you want the best results for freshness, doing everything the same day will be your best option.
