Why do I love Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Shells?
- I like not having to go to specialty stores to get the ingredients. This recipe uses common ingredients that you can find at your local supermarket.
- It will feed up to six people, which makes it a great option for families.
- This recipe allows you to experiment with different ingredients. For instance, you can caramelize the onions, add mushrooms, add pizza sauce
- The recipe doesn’t leave me feeling overly full after I eat it, compared to the traditional Philly cheesesteak sandwich. If you’re looking for a dish with a similar taste to the sandwich, this recipe will satisfy your craving.
- You can reheat the leftovers for lunch or dinner the next day.
What are the most popular Philly cheesesteak toppings?
Caramelized onions, chopped green bell peppers, cheese sauce (Cheez Whiz is very popular.), and ketchup are the typical go-to toppings for Philly cheesesteaks.
What rolls are used for Philly cheesesteak?
Hoagie rolls are the best because they are thick and soft, and enhance the taste of the cheesesteak sandwich. If your store doesn’t carry hoagie rolls, you can use Italian long rolls.
How to serve Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Shells?
You can serve them on a plate or in a bowl. Make sure to have some rolls on hand so that you can mop up and enjoy the leftover sauce on your plate.
Cooking Tips:
Drain any excess grease after you cook the beef so that it doesn’t affect the flavor of the dish.

You can substitute the ground beef with flank steak. Chicken is another good substitute if you are health conscious or don’t like the taste/texture of beef. If you want to add some kick to your meal, add some jalapeño slices (fresh or jarred). A clove of diced garlic can also enhance the shell dish.
