Why is it called Philly cheesesteak?

The Philly cheesesteak is a regional favorite in Philadelphia, PA. There are many theories about how it got its name, but the most popular story is that a taxi driver named Pat Olivieri invented it in the 1930s. His sandwich consisted of beef, onions, and cheese on a hoagie roll, and it was so popular that he started selling them out of his taxi.

The Philly cheesesteak has since become a staple in Philly cuisine, and there are now many variations in the original recipe.
