Spinach Dip Christmas Bread Tree

One of my favorite things to make for a get together or party is spinach dip. Normally when people make spinach dip, it is served with bread, either in a bread bowl or in a bowl with bread on the side. In this recipe, which is perfect for a Christmas Party Food, the bread is shaped as a tree with the spinach dip inside.

Can I use bread dough for this spinach dip tree?

For this recipe, I am using Pizza dough. I like using the pizza dough because it is ready to use and it is already rolled thin. If you prefer to make your own bread dough or want to buy premade bread dough, you can certainly use that instead. The only thing that makes bread dough different from pizza dough is that bread dough is designed to have more gluten.

Can you freeze Christmas tree bread?

Technically you can freeze anything, however, just because you can freeze it doesn’t mean it will come out tasting good. The problem with freezing spinach dip is that sometimes it can come out runny. Since this spinach dip is made slightly different, the spinach dip Christmas Tree will come out ok. The best way to eat the Christmas Tree Bread is to reheat it in the oven. This will warm it while drying up the dip.

How to Serve Christmas Bread Spinach Dip Tree

Once you have made and baked the spinach dip tree, you will want to serve it warm. Guests can pull off a section of tree branch, or you can have it cut beforehand for your guests.

Do I have to Use Frozen Spinach

When you are making this spinach dip, you want to use frozen spinach. If you want to use fresh spinach, you can cook it down. You do not want to use canned spinach. The texture and taste of canned spinach will ruin your spinach dip. When using frozen spinach, it is important to let the spinach thaw thoroughly. It is also important to drain all of the water from it. The excess water will make the dip runny and unappetizing.

How Long does Spinach Dip Breadsticks Last

After you have enjoyed the spinach dip breadsticks, you will need to store any leftovers in the refrigerator. The spinach dip will last for about 3 days in the refrigerator. When you are ready to eat the leftovers, you can reheat it in the microwave or the oven. After 3 days, you will not want to eat the dip. If you know you will not finish it before it spoils, you will want to freeze it right away.

How to make a Christmas bread spinach dip tree

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Roll the pizza dough onto a flat surface.

Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to cut a large triangle from the top of the rolled out pizza crust to the two bottom corners. Remove the two smaller triangles created on either side of the main triangle in the center, and push the edges of them together to form one large triangle just like the main one you cut out.

In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, drained spinach, salt, pepper, onion salt, Italian seasoning, chili powder, ½ c of the cheddar cheese, and the parmesan cheese. Mix to combine well.

Place the main large triangle that you cut out onto a greased or lined baking sheet.

Spread the filling mixture evenly over the top of the triangle of dough on the baking sheet.

Top the filling with the other ½ cup of cheddar cheese.

Take the other pieced together triangle that you created, and layer it directly over top of the first triangle that has the filling spread on it. Use your fingers to spread the dough out so that the shape of this triangle matches the first one. If you have some extra dough at the bottom, cut it off gently, and you can form it into a small trunk for the tree.

Take a sharp knife, and cut strips on either side of the triangle “tree” about every inch or 2 down the sides. Do not cut the dough all of the way through, leave a thin strip in the center to keep everything connected.
