Weeknight Salisbury Steak

Ingredients for Weeknight Salisbury Steak:

For the steaks:

1 ½ lb. Ground beef

1 Large egg

1 tbsp. Minced onion

½ C. Panko bread crumbs

½ tsp. Garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

2 Tbsp. Olive oil

For the gravy:

1 Onion sliced into rings

1 C. Mushrooms sliced

2 Tbsp. Flour

2 C. Beef broth

1 tsp. Minced garlic

2 Tbsp. Butter

Salt and pepper to taste

How to make Weeknight Salisbury Steak:

Step1: Mix together the ground beef, egg, minced onion, bread crumbs, garlic powder and salt and pepper to taste until well combined.

Step2: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Step3: Form the meat mixture into four even patties, and heat the olive oil in an oven-proof skillet over medium high heat.

Step4: Sear the patties on both sides in the heated skillet, and set aside.

Step5: In the same skillet, add the butter and reduce the heat to medium.

Step6: Add the mushrooms and onions to the skillet, and saute until becoming tender.

Step7: Stir in the minced garlic and salt and pepper to taste, and saute until 30 seconds.

Step8: Sprinkle the flour over the mixture in the skillet, and saute for 2 minutes.

Step9: Slowly whisk in the beef broth until well combined. Simmer the sauce until it begins to thicken.

Step10: Return the patties to the skillet, spoon the gravy overtop, and bake for 25-30 minutes.
