I add how much water to the ribs?

For these pork ribs in the slow cooker, you will not add water. It will have two cups of sauce and 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce. That is the only liquid used.

As the ribs cook, they will create more liquid as they cook down.

What makes tough ribs more tender?

Allowing time for the ribs to cook long enough is key. Another reason why ribs are tough is if you are cooking them too quickly and they don’t get that low and slow cook.

Test out my slow cooker barbecue beef ribs as well for another quick and easy prep dinner for any night of the week.

Is it permissible to put the meat straight in a slow cooker?

Yes you will place the pork ribs right in the slow cooker when you go to cook them. This is going to be needed for them to get cooked properly. Now you can easily trip the ribs if you find they are too fatty.

How do you keep meat from drying out when cooking in a slow cooker?

Keeping the lid on the crockpot is important and making sure the sauce and such is covering the ribs will help prevent the ribs from drying out.

Another thing is to make sure to not overcook your ribs. If you overcook they will become dry and that is not wanted.

Can you overcook ribs in a low-heat setting?

With any protein, you can overcook the meat. Even on the low setting allowing it to cook for too many hours will end in dried-out pork ribs. Grab a meat thermometer and make sure it reads 145 degrees F. Then turn off and serve, or switch to warm until you are ready to eat.

Baby Back Ribs vs Spare Ribs

Baby back ribs are a more tender and leaner cut of pork. Spare ribs are very popular as well but you find they take longer to get that tender meat you are hoping for, and they have more fat on them. So make sure to trim the ribs so you don’t have too fatty of meat.

Is it possible to make this dish with boneless pork ribs?

Go right ahead and swap with boneless ribs if you want. The cook time might be a bit less but overall you will use the same process for cooking the ribs. You want the internal temperature to read 145 degrees so they are fully cooked and safe to serve.

Instant Pot ribs is another method to getting tender ribs each and every time if you own an electric pressure cooker.

How long should ribs be simmered in the crock pot?

I cooked the pork ribs in the slow cooker for 4-5 hours. Now depending on the size of the ribs the cooking time can vary a bit. In general, this is the average time it is going to take to get your ribs cooked all the way through.

How do you prepare ribs for a slow cooker recipe?

  • Mix up the sauce in a bowl or Ziploc bag.
  • Season ribs with spices and cut them into sections placing them in the crockpot.
  • Pour the sauce over the ribs or add ribs to the bag and mix.
  • Pour the rest of the sauce over the ribs.
  • Cover and cook until it is done.

Crockpot Barbecue Ribs Tips

  • Trim the ribs before placing in the crockpot.
  • Use any of your favorite bbq sauces.
  • For spice add a bit of hot sauce for added heat.
  • Make sure to ensure the pork is cooked fully. Thicker ribs can take longer.

The best way to store and reheat Crockpot Barbecue Ribs?

Refrigerate your ribs in an airtight container. Then when you want to reheat warm it up in the microwave or in the oven. If you heat up the ribs in the oven cover the container with foil to prevent them from drying out as they reheat.

The ribs will store for 3-4 days in the fridge when stored properly.

Could this recipe be frozen?

Go right ahead and freeze any ribs you don’t plan to eat right away. They can be frozen for up to 4-5 months.

Then thaw and reheat as you wish.

Is it possible to prepare it ahead of time??

You could make them a day or two in advance if you want, but I find the pork ribs will taste best when served fresh and warm.
