- Celery chopped
- Cayenne pepper

How To Make Crockpot Great Northern Beans:
Step 1. Place 2 lb. dried great northern beans into the crockpot.
Step 2. Then, add 1 carrot peeled and chopped and 1 stalk of chopped celery.
Step 3. Then, add 1 ½ lb of ham hocks.
Step 4. Pour 6 cups of water over the beans.
Step 5. Add the salt to taste, depending on your preference.
Step 6. Then, add ½ tsp of pepper.
Step 7. Lastly, add ½ tsp. of cayenne pepper.
Step 8. Place the ham hocks in the Crockpot.
Step 9. Close the lid and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
Step 10. Remove the ham hocks and take off any meat from them.
Step 11. Add the meat back to the crockpot, stir, and serve.

Instructions
- Place the beans into the Crockpot along with the vegetables.
- Pour the water over the beans and add the salt, pepper and cayenne pepper.
- Place the ham hocks in the Crockpot.
- Close the lid and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
- Remove the ham hocks and take off any meat from them.
- Add the meat back to the crockpot, stir and serve.

Can I make this on my stovetop?
Of course, you can. Just place it in a large dutch oven or soup pot on medium-high heat and cook until the beans are soft.
Can I freeze any leftovers?
Yes, be sure to cool it to room temperature before placing the soup into appropriate containers. Label and mark for 3 months.
