What is a Chalupa?

A Chalupa is basically a taco, however, it is made from Fried bread dough or pita bread. It is then topped the same way you would top your tacos.

What is the difference between a Chalupa and a Taco?

The simple explanation is that the shells are quite different. A taco is thin, and a Chalupa is thick. The Chalupa is believed to be more filling than a taco.

Is a Chalupa eaten differently than a Taco?

In general, they can be eaten the same way. Most often though, the Chalupa is eaten by tearing off a chunk of the bread and placing some of the fillings on it.

What should I serve with or in the Chalupa?

Chalupas can be eaten as a main dish, and depending on the toppings, do not need any side to go with it. However, many people will make  Spanish rice to eat on the side.
