What is the original cheese on a Philly cheesesteak?
Cheez Whiz is the original cheese that has been used on a cheesesteak sandwich. Now you can use Cheez Whiz or you can reach for mozzarella, Swiss, etc. It is your personal preference as to what you want on your cheesesteak taco.
Do you use mayo on a Philly cheesesteak?
Mayonnaise is an optional ingredient. If you want to spread mayo on the bread or even on the taco shell go right ahead. Or if you prefer not to mayo then skip adding it in.
How to serve Philly Cheesesteak Tacos?
This can be a meal all in one or served with a side of chips and nacho cheese, rice, or even guacamole salad. Feel free to pick and choose what you want to go with your nachos.

Tips:
If you don’t want to use fried shells you can cook shells in the oven or even an air fryer to create a crispy texture without the oil.
I do recommend a flour tortilla for this, as the corn will be a bit of a harsh flavor pairing with the beef, and veggies.

- Swap the steak with thinly sliced boneless chicken.
- Or instead of steak cook ground beef.
- Change up the type of onion used. White or yellow onions are both delicious in this recipe.

Ingredients:
- Flour tortillas
- Philly cheesesteak meat
- Nacho cheese sauce
- Bell peppers
- Onions
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil
- Oil for frying
- Parsley for garnish
How To Make Philly Cheesesteak Tacos:
Step 1. Heat some cooking oil in a deep-sided skillet.
Step 2. Fry the tortillas for 1 minute on each side until lightly browned and slightly crispy. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate and fold into taco shell shapes while still warm.

Step 3. In a skillet, heat olive oil and cook the onions and pepper until tender. Remove and set aside.
Until tender.
Step 4. To the same skillet, add the cheesesteak meat and cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 5. Add the seasoned meat to each of the fried tortillas.
Step 6. Top with some of the cooked onions and peppers and a serving of the nacho cheese sauce.
Then add nacho cheese.
Step 7. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

How to store Philly Cheesesteak Tacos?
Store any leftovers in the fridge. It is important to store the shells separately or it will become soggy very quickly.
The meat and veggies can store in the same container for 2-3 days. Then eat as you would like.

Reheating can be done in the microwave, in a microwave-safe container. Or you can toss the meat and such in a skillet and heat on low. Just add a splash of water to help ensure the meat doesn’t dry out.
