Layered Twinkie Cake

I love layered cakes because they are FUN to put together, taste awesome, and leave an impact on anyone who lays their eyes on it. PLUS, I am also a lover of all things Twinkie related. Can you blame me, though? Soft cake, stuffed with vanilla cream, is one of the best flavors ever.

Like many of you, I grew up eating Twinkies. They are the best afterschool snack and are basically comfort food to me. While I don’t eat them every day as an adult, I do like to indulge from time to time. But recently I started making a layered Twinkie cake instead, and it’s amazing. I can’t wait for you to taste the flavors and feel the texture on your tongue. It doesn’t get much better than this, and I am sure it’s going to be your new favorite Twinkie recipe.

Can I Make This Into A 9×13 Pan Instead of Layered

Yep! You can simply follow the same directions, but you will need to keep a watch on the time. The twinkie dessert is likely to take longer than the layered cakes. So, after the time is up, check the cake and add more time if needed. The cake is made when you can insert a toothpick into the center of it, and it comes out without any batter on it.

How To Frost A Layered Cake

To frost a layered cake, you will first need to make sure that the cakes are cut evenly. Use a knife that is serrated to cut off any domes on the cakes. Then add a layer of frosting to the bottom layer. Once you have the frosting the way you want, add another cake layer and add a bit of frosting to that layer. Keep repeating the process until the cake is frosted and ready to decorate.

Decorations For Twinkie Cake

I simply use frosting to pipe dollops around the edges as well as drips of frosting to add some character. Then I follow it all up with sliced Twinkies. It’s a simple way to decorate, but it turns out stunning every time.

Can I Use Homemade White Cake Mix

Yep! You can simply swap the vanilla cake mix for any of your favorite homemade cake recipes. Any of them should work fine.

Could I Use Yellow Cake Instead of White

Of course! I love the flavor of the white cake with the frosting, so that is why I use it. However, you can swap the white cake for a yellow cake if you’d rather. Go ahead and see what you like best and stick with that. You could even use a French Vanilla cake if you wanted to.

Second Step: Then, you’ll need to repeat the step with the other two layers.

Third Step: Add one scoop of white frosting and spread it onto the bottom layer.

Fourth Step: Then, you’ll need to add some chopped twinkies to that layer and push them into the frosting.

Fifth Step: Add the second cake layer on top of the first layer and add one more cup of frosting. Then evenly spread the remaining chopped twinkies onto the frosting layer.

Sixth Step: Then, you’ll need to place the last layer of cake on top.

Seventh Step: Take the remaining white frosting and add it to the entire cake.

Eighth Step: Next, you’ll need to remove the film from the vanilla frosting container. Then put it into the microwave for about 30 – 45 seconds or until almost a thick liquid.

Ninth Step: Gently pour some of the frostings into the squeeze bottle.

Tenth Step: Take the squeeze bottle and add pipe drips along the side of the cake.

Eleventh Step: Use a piping bag and begin to pipe dollops of frosting onto the top of the cake.

Twelfth Step: Then add the cut twinkies in between each dollop of frosting.

Enjoy!
