Best Buffalo Wings Recipe

While these buffalo wings do make excellent football food, they are also suitable for all sorts of events.

We have served them at birthday parties, dinner parties, Christmas, New Years, and pretty much any other reason you can imagine. They always please a crowd and keep everyone coming back for more. We typically make several batches when we know we are feeding a lot of people.

It’s one of those foods that everyone wants at least a couple of them. We typically serve the buffalo wings as an appetizer, but you can also make them as your meal too.

What Dipping Sauces Go With Buffalo Wings?

We almost always use blue cheese dressing as the dipping sauce for these yummy buffalo wings. Our next choice is ranch dressing. Both are incredible and take the wings to the next level.

Try them both to see what you enjoy the most and stick with that.

What is the Best Hot Sauce for Wings?

For us, we always love Frank’s Hot sauce for the wings. It’s the perfect amount of heat and has the best tangy flavor. If you aren’t a fan of Frank’s that’s okay too. You can try other varieties of hot sauce to see which one you like best. You can find brands like Budweiser, Sweet Baby Ray’s, TGI Fridays, and more at your local grocery store.

If you love a variety, you could try multiple sauces and let everyone pick what they like the best.

Ingredients

These are the best and simplest chicken wings ever. There are three sets of ingredients for the wings, sauce, and dressing, but none of them are hard. You can easily throw together a batch or two and feed a bunch of hungry people. Take a look at what you need to get started.

For the Wings:

  • Peanut oil (or vegetable oil) for frying
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Ground black pepper
  • Table salt
  • Cornstarch
  • Chicken wings (18 wings), wingtips removed, cut into wingettes and drumettes.

For the Sauce:

  • Unsalted butter
  • Hot sauce, preferably Frank’s Louisiana Hot Sauce
  • Tabasco sauce or other hot sauce, plus more to taste
  • Dark brown sugar
  • Cider vinegar

For the Creamy Blue Cheese Dressing and Vegetables:

  • Blue cheese , crumbled (about 1/2 cup)
  • Buttermilk
  • Sour cream
  • Mayonnaise
  • White wine vinegar
  • Stalks celery, cut into thin sticks
  • Medium carrots, peeled and cut into thin slices

How to Fry Chicken Wings

Frying the chicken wings is a piece of cake. You just need to be careful to not get burned. Take extra caution and enjoy these hot fresh buffalo wings.

To start off, you’ll need to combine the cayenne, black pepper, salt, and cornstarch in a small bowl and set aside.

Then warm up the oven to 200 degrees. Place paper towels on a large baking sheet. Heat 2 1/2 inches of oil over medium heat in a heavy pan until it registers 360°F on a thermometer. Take the pieces of chicken and carefully dry it with paper towels and place the pieces in large mixing bowl. Add the prepared spice mixture over the tops of the wings and toss them until they are all evenly coated. Begin frying the chicken wings in batches. Cook each batch for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove wings from the pan and place it on the baking sheet lined with paper towels to drain. Keep the first batch of buffalo wings warm in the oven while frying remaining wings.

How to Make Buffalo Sauce

Combine butter, hot sauces, brown sugar, and vinegar and stir until butter is melted over medium heat in a small saucepan. Once melted, remove from heat.

How to Make Blue Cheese Dipping Sauce

To prepare the Creamy Blue Cheese Dressing and Vegetables, you’ll need to mash the blue cheese and buttermilk with a fork until the mixture resembles cottage cheese with small curds. Then add in the sour cream, mayonnaise, and white wine vinegar and set aside.

How to Make Buffalo Wings

Pour the sauce mixture into a large bowl. Place the chicken wings in the bowl and toss until wings are coated. Serve the buffalo wings immediately along with the carrot and celery sticks and blue cheese dressing on the side.
