Thank you, blackberries, for making us go crazy!
What I really like about this recipe is that you don’t need any fancy ingredients. Just a few simple things from your pantry, and voila!
My Kentucky Blackberry Cobbler recipe please-give-us-some-more kind of recipe with my family and friends. Everyone obsesses over it like anything.
Personally, I just love the shades of deep purple and blue-black of the cooked blackberries in a nude cake batter.
Can I Use Frozen Blackberries?
I’m always in favor of using fresh berries. They are plump. The flavor is dense. And the color is vibrant. But it’s not like you can’t make this recipe if you don’t have fresh blackberries. You can use frozen ones. Just make sure you store them covered in sugar. It’ll help them keep their flavor.
What to Serve with Blackberry Cobbler?
I always serve my cobbler with a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream. We also tried lots and lots of whipped cream as a topping. It’s amazing either way.
Variations for the Kentucky Blackberry Cobbler
This recipe is pretty versatile. You can use any other fruit that you like. Maybe a combo of blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries. Or, a hint of grated lemon zest for an extra citrusy kick.
Peaches work like a charm too. I’ve tried it, and it was yummy!
You can also switch up the spices in your cobbler. Try sprinkling a pinch of cardamom, allspice, or cinnamon. These little touches can deepen the flavor.

Tips for Success
- Sift your dry ingredients before adding them to the batter. It will give your cobbler a light, fluffy texture. Also, no lumps.
- Please don’t overcook the cake. The biscuit will harden when you cool it. So, take your cake out when the top is golden and the middle slightly spongy.
- Always wash the blackberries. You don’t want an extra and unwanted flavor of dirt in your cobbler.
- Don’t skip the cooling part. It’ll help set your cobbler. If you don’t cool it, it’ll be all over the place.
How to Store Kentucky Blackberry Cobbler
You can keep the cobbler fresh in your fridge for about four days. Use an airtight container to keep it fresh and yummy. If you like, you can also freeze it for up to three months tops. Thaw it before you reheat it in a preheated oven.
