Why I love Philly Cheesesteak Cheesy Bread?

Philly cheese steak bread is perfect as a meal for a cozy night in or as a dish for a party. Just be prepared to make it over and over again if you decide to introduce it to your friends… once they’ve tried it, it’s the kind of dish people will always ask you to make! I also love that you can put your own spin on this recipe. Want to double up the protein? Add in some chicken!

What type of bread is used for Philly cheesesteak?

A loaf of French bread is the traditional bread that is used for this cheesy bread. However, you can feel free to get creative if you can’t get your hands on a French loaf. A classic sub or a hoagie roll will certainly do in a pinch. The flavor of the steak, Worcestershire, and cheese is the star that shines in this dish!

What cheese is best for Philly cheesesteak?

Yet another great Philly cheesesteak debate: what cheese is best for the dish? I stick to provolone in this recipe, but white American cheese is a favorite, too. You can also consider white cheddar, mozzerlla or regular American cheese. Want to really lean into the heritage of the city of brotherly love? Try cheeze whiz, a true Philly staple!

Do you put mayo on Philly cheesesteak?

Mayonnaise is traditionally used in Philly cheesesteak recipes. If you’re looking to cut down on fats and calories, you can substitute for light mayo or forego it entirely. The creaminess of the cheese is enough to balance the bold flavors in this dish.

What sauce goes best on a cheesesteak?

You don’t need a particular sauce for cheesesteak, but aioli, A1 steak sauce, or even marinara sauce are all delicious if you’re looking to shake things up.

How to serve Philly Cheesesteak Cheesy Bread?

Philly cheesesteak cheesy bread is best served hot alongside a cold beverage! This dish pairs excellently with French fries or something cool to cut the bold flavors and rich heat of the dish, such as potato salad or coleslaw.

Philly Cheesesteak Cheesy Bread Cooking Tips:

My best tip for cooking Philly cheesesteak cheesy bread is to broil for the last minute that you have the dish in the oven. This will make sure you get a nice crisp on the top of your provolone cheese!
