I will even let them have extras if they want. With only a little bit of sugar and low-fat granola, this pear crumble recipe comes out of the oven tasting like heaven.

This recipe is a great idea for when pears are in season. There is nothing better than baked pears when they are fresh and juicy.

This pear crumble recipe is a very basic recipe because sometimes basic is best. There are a few ways to change up this recipe. You can consider these ideas:

  • Add Raisins: Raisin would give a different type of sweetness to this dessert. Pears go great with raisins so you can add it to this. Sprinkle a few raisins into the center of the pears.
  • Sunflower Seeds: This will add a bit of crunch into this pear dessert.
  • Walnuts or Pecans: This is another option to put a little crunch into this dessert and can be used with or without the almonds.

When it comes to having leftovers, you will want to store the pear desserts in the refrigerator. Once it has cooled, you can leave it in the casserole baking pan that you baked it in wrapped in plastic or you can move it to an airtight container. You do not want to leave this pear dessert at room temperature.

How to Reheat Low Fat Granola Pears

You can reheat the low fat granola pears in the microwave or you can reheat them in the oven for a few minutes. You can also heat them in a skillet. Start with them sugar side down, then flip them half way through the heating process to heat it all the way through.

These pears will not have a long life since there are no preservatives involved in making them. The oatmeal granola pears will last for about 3 days in the refrigerator before getting to soft and unedible.

Can this Pear Crumble Recipe be Frozen

Whether you want to freeze the pear crumble because you have too many pears to eat all at once or because you want to have this delicious and healthy dessert on hand even when pears are not in season, you can freeze them easily. Once the pears are baked and cooled, store them in a container or freezer bag and place in the freezer. The pears will last up to 3 months. When you are ready to thaw remove the pears from the freezer about 2 hours before you are ready to serve them. Then you can reheat using the methods above.

Ingredients in Cinnamon Sugar Baked Pears with Granola Crumble

  • under ripe pears
  • Vanilla
  • Butter
  • Granulated sugar
  • Brown sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • Old fashioned oats
  • Chopped almonds

How to Make Cinnamon Sugar Baked Pears with Granola Crumble

Heat the oven to 350 degrees.

Slice each pear in half. You want to choose firm baking pears or slightly under ripe large eating pears. Pears that are very ripe will bake into mush.

Use a spoon to scoop out a bit of the center of each pear.

In a small bowl, combine the warm melted butter, vanilla and granulated sugar. Stir until the ingredients are combined well.

Brush the butter mixture onto each pear half, reserving the remaining butter mixture for later.

Mix together ¼ cup of brown sugar with a ½ teaspoon of cinnamon.

Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over top of the pear halves.

In a bowl, add ¼ cup of chopped almonds to a half cup of old fashioned oats.

Pour the remaining butter mixture over top of the oats and almonds, and stir to combine them.

Fill the center of each pear half with the oat and almond mixture.

Bake the pears uncovered for 30-40 minutes until the top is browned and caramelized and the flesh has softened.

Serve with sprinkled cinnamon, whipped topping or fresh vanilla ice cream.

  • 2 tbsp. Butter
  • 3 tsp. Granulated sugar
  • ¼ c. Brown sugar
  • ½ tsp. Cinnamon
  • ½ c. Old fashioned oats
  • ¼ c. Chopped almonds
