The beef that is used for pot roast is a cheaper cut that is often tough unless it was cooked this way. With this recipe, pot roast doesn’t have to be an all day affair. Make the best pot roast when you make it in the Instant Pot.

When you make a pot roast, it creates the most flavorful liquid. When you cook the pot roast vegetables in this liquid, the veggies take on all of the flavors. The vegetables get soft and flavorful and have a taste that you just can’t get any other way than cooking it together. Typically when people talk about pot roast vegetables, it is carrots and potatoes. Sometimes, celery and onions are added as well.
What is Pot Roast Seasoning
When making pot roast, you want to make sure it is seasoned well. Pot Roast has a specific taste and flavor and you might want to make sure that is the flavor you are going with. When I make this pot roast, I like to season it with garlic powder, onion powder, dried parsley flakes, salt and pepper, balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, and beef broth. These seasonings together will give a tasty and delicious pot roast.

When you are making pot roast, there isn’t a specific cut of meat that is used. In general, pot roast is a meat that is best when cooked slow, low and braised. It is usually a cheaper cut of meat because when it is cooked fast it tends to be tough. When looking for the best beed for pot toast try:
- Beef Chuck roast – This is one of the most common choices when it comes to making pot roast. Sometimes, this cut is even labeled pot roast.
- Beef brisket – This is often used when it comes to doing BBQ, like being used in a smoker. It is another meat that works best when cooked long and slow.
- Bottom round roast- Most commonly used for roast beef, this is another excellent choice when it comes to making pot roast.
What to Do With Leftover Pot Roast
Whenever you have leftover pot roast, you can eat it again as the same type of meal, like pot roast and vegetables. You can also use the pot roast as a sandwich. Use a good bread, like fresh baked, thick but as well as rye or pumpernickel. Use a little mayo and horseradish and you have a great tasting way to use leftover pot roast.

- Beef chuck roast
- Garlic powder
- Seasoning salt
- Black pepper
- Onion powder
- Dried parsley flakes
- Olive oil
- Balsamic vinegar
- Worcestershire sauce
- Tomato paste
- Beef broth
- carrots
- Baby yellow potatoes
How to Make the Best Pot Roast
Set the Instant Pot to the saute function, and add in the olive oil.
Cut the chuck steak in half, and season both sides with the garlic powder, seasoning salt, black pepper, onion powder, and parsley flakes.
Place the meat into the heated Instant Pot, and sear on both sides for several minutes each.
Turn the Instant Pot off.
Add in the balsamic vinegar, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth.
Place the lid on the Instant Pot, and make sure the release valve is set to the sealing function.
Set the Instant Pot to cook on manual for 60 minutes, and allow it to come to a natural release for 10 minutes when the cook time is finished before moving the release valve to the venting position to release additional pressure.
Open the lid, and place the carrots and potatoes into the liquid in the pot.
Place the lid back on the Instant Pot, and set the release valve to the sealing position.
Set the Instant Pot to cook on manual for 3 minutes, and allow it to come to a natural release for 10 minutes after the cook time once again.
Serve the pot roast with freshly chopped parsley as garnish if desired.
